Sterilizing & Disinfecting Glutaraldehyde Solution should be used for sterilization of heat-sensitive medical instruments. Glutaraldehyde solution is an alternative method of sterilization.
However, using caution is important for human safety. A high-level sterilizing solution used to immerse medical instruments for at least 45 minutes.
Also, the Glutaraldehyde solution destroys all pathogenic micro-organisms except for large numbers of bacterial endospores. When reviewing the product packaging, there is an activation date the person in charge of bio-hazardous waste will need to document the exact date of opening for use.
The product has a shelf-life of 28-days. It is a product that may be reused per instructions. The sterilizing and disinfecting solution has to be activated with the attached "Activator Plus".
Clean bodily fluids and blood from hard non-porous surfaces before the application of disinfectant or sterilant. Medical personnel may re-use solution, however, it is mandatory to be compliant by performing a Procheck test strip before reusing the solution. It is also mandatory to discard the 1-gallon sterilizing and disinfecting Glutaraldehyde solution after 28-days.
A ten-minute immersion at 68° F (20° C) will destroy all vegetative bacteria including S. aureus, S. choleraesuis, P. aeruginosa, E. coli, all pathogenic fungi, representative viruses and 99.99% of Mycobacterium strains' (Quantitative TB) as represented by Bovis and terrae.
